FAQs

We welcome questions and encourage you to contact our Academy Co-ordinator babraham@bellmicro.eu or call on 07770 210 261 for any clarification you may need. Meanwhile, here are a few FAQs which may help you….

Students

How much will it cost?
Because of the unique funding structure we have, students will not pay to join the training scheme. All we ask in return is that the student commits to the programme, studies hard and works in a professional manner.

Am I guaranteed to get a job at the end of my course?
As part of the Academy process, all students are assisted in finding suitably challenging and rewarding roles within the channel.

Students who are offered a place in the IBM Storage Management Academy are matched to an employer and will have a contract with that employer. They will undertake their training whilst under that contract.

Students enrolled on the HP OpenView programme may be sponsored through the Academy by an employer but we make no guarantees about employment and in our opinion you should be extremely wary of any training provider that makes such claims.

Where do I study?

The Technical Academy is delivered using state of the art facilities and simulated IT environments at Chessington, Surrey.

How long will it take to become qualified?

This is dependant upon the particular Academy.
HP OpenView graduates can find themselves qualified in nine weeks after their main degree course finishes!

IBM Storage Management graduates complete their training within 6 – 9 months.

Channel Partners

How much will it cost?
The IBM Storage Management Academy is jointly funded by IBM and Partner Services. There is no recruitment fee made to Channel partners, they are however, expected to offer an employment contract and graduate level salary* to at least one student.

* It may be possible to receive funding towards this.

The HP OpenView Academy programme is jointly funded by vendor, Channel Partners and Partner Services.

Channel Partners pay a recruitment fee* in one of two ways:

1. Partners sponsor a class of students from commencement of the scheme and in return gain preferential phase 1 access to interview graduates upon completion of the academy. Should they make an offer to a graduate, a further, reduced placement fee is payable.

2. Partners are able to recruit graduates in phase 2 and pay the complete placement fee upon making an employment offer.

* Academy recruitment fees are competitive and are less than an organisation would expect to pay for recruitment, training and accreditation on the open market.

What happens if I sponsor a student through the HP OpenView Academy and they drop out or do not complete the course?
In a perfect world this would not happen, however we insure against this by ensuring we have pool students who we sponsor through the Academy.

Can we send our own staff to the Academy?
Yes. Channel Partners may have staff who they wish to cross-train or up-skill. We accept applications from our Business Partner’s employees and, providing they meet the selection criteria, they are welcome to join.
